Egerton Plantation is an ex coal mining area near Dimple above Bolton. The dark Conifer plantations have changed the nature of the land but the indigenous species are fighting back. They both provide refuge for deer and fox. This is part of a series I made on Lancashire’s abandon ‘d mines, quarries and washings. Made using pastel, ink and acrylics on paper and on location this is one of my favourite pieces of the series. It also holds pleasant memories of my daily walks with my much missed sheepdog Ben.
