High above the valley a scrabble of steep paths cling bewteen narrowing sharp rock butresses above exposed sheer slopes. Though it is not as long as Striding Edge this second ridge of Helvellyn is challenging in good weather and very difficult in bad. Just down from the top the path forms a ledge. This is a great place to stop. Here you can take a look down at what you are about to recieve or you can turn and look back upwards to the not so reassuring blank broad face of the main fell itself.
